Hello there! I’m Alex and I’m a wife, photographer, and educator based in NJ.
I wasn’t much of an athlete growing up, but I discovered I loved running when I met my husband eleven years ago. He was a long distance runner at the time so I knew I should probably learn to run, too, if I wanted to spend more time with him. He helped me run my first 5k and that eventually led to my first, second, and third marathon. And then our photography business took off and running took a backseat sometime in 2013. For the last several years, I’ve been inconsistent with exercise and healthy eating and I think it’s pretty safe to say that at the start of 2018 I was in the worst shape of my life.
Since January 1st, I’ve been committed to getting back in shape as I get ready to turn forty in May and in the last few months, I’ve fallen in love with taking care of myself. I’ve begun to create healthy habits in fitness and nutrition and I’m in such a different place than I was at the start of the year. I’m so excited to see where this journey will take me!
As I reflect on the past few months, I can’t help but think about how inspiring it has been to read about other people’s journeys. I love to blog for our photography business (check out our blogs here and here) and I’ve been itching to start a blog that is focused on my fitness journey. My hope is that by documenting my challenges and wins, I’ll inspire others to take care of themselves, too.
Because we only get one life.
